Personal profile

Initially qualified as a science teacher before becoming aware of a natural passion and ability for bio-analytical lab work during masters. Recently assisted Dr Richard Bingham at the University of Huddersfield in his research into Human H factor protein. This gained me Substantial experience at working to specific guidelines with scientific and technical information to produce valid and consistent results as well as becoming used to working proactively to solve problems individually as well as part of a team. A confident, positive and self-motivated person who enjoys working and interacting with people from all walks of life. Has a well developed communication and active listening skills gained through delivery of teaching and different management roles. At the present time I write regular articles for living magazine focusing on current scientific developments and general interest areas.

Employment history

Oct 2008- present Huddersfield University Research assistant This role was split into a number of different area through- out the university. Originally, to work individually and as part of a small team for Dr Richard Bingham to attempt to isolate and purify specific sushi domains on human H factor. Specific techniques are SDS PAGE, FPLC, Aseptic technique and a variety of protein expression and purification techniques. I achieved an optimized SOP which is now being used by a PhD student. I then went on to worked as a Lab demonstrator and tutor and personal tutor for a number of undergraduates. My job was to assist a number of Autistic and special need pupils in their own final year project planning and carrying out their research.

2007-Present Waterstones, Huddersfield Book seller I worked in a variety of roles in this position. I was Involved in all aspects of customer care, cash handling, book ordering from external suppliers, stock control, receiving and returning sock. I Developed and maintained a new storage system which gained regional praise.

1999- 2005/ 2006-2008 Burger king, Huddersfield Senior shift manager and training officer Responsible for the day to day running of the business in a smooth and efficient manner ensuring a good quality of customer service. I was influential in implementing a companywide training programme

· Working to meet targets and deadlines in a pressured environment.

· All financial aspects relating to the day to day business.

· Liaising with external personnel of other companies in the maintenance of the building and equipment.

2005-2006 Rhodesway high school, Bradford Teacher of science Taught students from year 7 through to 6th form, in addition to teaching duties also involved in ;

· Part of a working party to write a scheme of work for the implementation of the new G.C.S.E. structure.

· Organised and lead a successful inter-school quiz.

· Created an excel spreadsheet to monitor and record the grades of over 1500 pupils.

Interests

I enjoy travelling and exploring other countries and cultures. In recent years I have visited Australia, the USA, the Far East and Europe. These cultural experiences have given me enrichment to my professional life and a social integration with people from different walks of life. I like to keep active and I am currently participating at the gym, Spanish classes, tai kwon do classes and Latin American dancing in my spare time.
